Residential Care Facilities Administrators Certification Program

classroom

Three times a year, the OKC Downtown College offers a Residential Care Facilities Administrators Certification Program through the University of Central Oklahoma. This program is approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Health as a certification program for administrators and support staff in residential care and assisted living facilities in the State of Oklahoma.

To obtain the initial certification (license), an individual must attend 35 hours of classroom instruction and 15 hours of Medication Technician Certification training at a vocational-technical school (unless the individual is a Registered Nurse or LPN, in which case the MAT requirement is waived upon verification of RN or LPN license). Our program consists of the required Rules and Regulations session and 30 hours of electives in areas of elderly mental health, communication, marketing and developing business plans, to name a few. Sessions change from program to program, focusing on current issues in the residential care and assisted living fields. Renewal hours can be completed in one day. In addition to the classroom time, completion of 8 hours of MAT Update is required for license renewal.

Presently, we offer this program in March, July, and October. If you would like to receive our next announcement by mail or have questions about registration, please e-mail Jimmie Sue at jbaker@downtowncollege.com or call 405.232.3382.
